Counting the Omer is an ancient spiritual/self-reflective practice, which begins on the second night of Passover and goes through Shavuot. We take it as an opportunity for a spiritual practice that can ground us, a way to find the sacred even when we "have no time" and amidst the challenges we face. In this offering we adapt the practice to working with the Omer daily or with just one overarching attribute each week, so that those for whom this is a new exploration or those who may not want to commit to a daily practice can still benefit from the riches it offers.
We have three wonderful guests this year:
Mo Golden and Amanda Herring, co-founders of Gold Herring will present their new self-care book, The Omer Workbook - April 4.
D’vorah Horn, expressive artist, will discuss her process for creating the Omer Practice cards - April 11.
The count starts on Sunday, March 28, so this year we will be meeting on Sundays. Since the practice is done in the evening, the preferred meeting time is 3 or 4PM Pacific, 6 or 7 PM Eastern time. If that does not work for the majority, we can also schedule it at 11AM Pacific/2PM Eastern. If this practice is fairly new--or brand new--to you, I strongly suggest you follow Yael Levy's Journey Through the Wilderness; it offers a beautifully written, poetic approach.
We meet weekly on Zoom for the 7 weeks from March 28 through Shavuot, May 16. Once you register, you will receive the Zoom link; I ask that you not share it on any social media or with anyone who has not registered. Thanks in advance!
